After his work <em>Uccelli-Quasi un racconto<\/em>, edited by Mondadori in 1952, his voice has been silent. One of the best-known names in Italian poetry, he started to compose his first works around 1900. After debuting in 1911 with his collection <em>Poesie<\/em>, he managed a cinema in Trieste at the end the Great War and took over the management of the antique bookstore Mayl\u00e4nder. Forced to leave Italy due to racial persecution, he moved to Paris in 1938. On his return to Italy, he started to collaborate with \u201cCorriere della Sera\u201d in Milan, and in 1945 he published <em>Il Canzoniere<\/em>.
