Moscow correspondent for \u201cCorriere della Sera\u201d, he continued as a special correspondent for \u201cLa Stampa\u201d, of which he became chief editor from 1968 to 1973. Columnist for several journals and newspapers, he authored many critical essays, including <em>La crisi americana<\/em> (1975) and <em>I limiti del capitalismo<\/em> (1991). Minister of Cultural Assets and Environments under the governments of Amato and Ciampi, in 1993 he promulgated a well-known law bearing his name.
